Bosch Fridge Error E01/E02: Temperature Sensor Fault
E01 points to a fault in the fridge compartment sensor and E02 to the freezer sensor; the control board stops receiving a reliable temperature reading.
Common symptoms:
- E01 or E02 flashes on the digital display
- Displayed temperature doesn't match actual temperature
- Compressor runs irregularly or continuously
Probable causes:
The sensor plug on the inner wall partially disconnects from vibration or accumulates condensation that affects the contact.
The sensor itself has lost accuracy or developed an internal open circuit and needs replacement.
The board interpreting the sensor signal is damaged, producing consistently faulty readings.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Unplug the fridge for 2-3 minutes then reconnect it. Some faulty readings clear after the control board restarts.
The sensor is usually on the inner rear wall (E01 in the fridge, E02 in the freezer), held by a small clip. Carefully remove it, dry the area, and confirm the plug seats firmly.
Let the fridge run for 2-3 hours and watch whether the code clears. If it reappears immediately, the sensor is likely damaged.
If E01/E02 returns after the reset and connector check, the corresponding NTC sensor needs replacing; the part is inexpensive but requires accessing the Bosch fridge's inner liner.
