Beko Refrigerator Error E4: Defrost Heater System Fault
Defrost sensor or evaporator heating element failed to defrost ice buildup during automatic cycle.
How to reset or clear this error:
Unplug the Beko fridge, remove all food, and leave both doors open for 24-48 hours to fully defrost the hidden evaporator. The E4 error clears itself once you plug the unit back in with the ice completely melted.
Common symptoms:
- Freezer works fine but fridge compartment stays warm
- E4 or warning icon blinking
Probable causes:
Evaporator frost blocks air dam damper from circulating cold air upstairs.
Sensor reads invalid resistance preventing heater control signal.
Calrod/glass element heating circuit broken.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Unplug fridge, remove food, leave both doors propped open for 24-48 hours with towels on floor to thaw rear evaporator block completely.
Inspect rubber duckbill valve above compressor at rear bottom. Plug in unit and allow 4 hours cooling down before reloading food.
If E4 returns within 5 to 10 days following a thorough manual defrost, the defrost heater or NTC evaporator sensor is defective and needs technical replacement.
