Balay Fridge Error F3: Evaporator Sensor Fault
The F3 code, along with the audible alarm, indicates on Balay fridges a fault in the sensor that controls evaporator temperature and manages defrost cycles.
Common symptoms:
- "F3" flashes on the display next to the alarm symbol
- Irregular frost buildup at the back of the fridge
- Intermittent beep that doesn't stop with the alarm button
Probable causes:
A layer of ice over the sensor distorts the actual temperature reading, triggering the warning even though the unit is cooling normally.
The thin cable connecting the sensor to the board has become partially disconnected during an internal cleaning.
The component has failed permanently and needs replacement so the fridge can properly manage defrosting.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Empty the fridge, switch it off, and leave the door open for several hours so all the ice on the rear wall and sensor melts.
With the unit disconnected from the mains, locate the sensor near the evaporator and check the connector is fully seated and dry.
If F3 remains active after a full defrost and connector check, the evaporator sensor is likely damaged and needs replacing; best done by a technician to avoid damaging the cooling circuit.
