Balay / Bosch Dishwasher Error E24: Drain Evacuation Failure

Dishwasher detects abnormal backpressure during initial drain sequence.

15 estimated minutes Basic Difficulty (DIY)

How to reset or clear this error:

Remove the cylindrical filter from the bottom of the Balay dishwasher, lift the metal plate, and locate the white pump safety cap to clean and clip it firmly back into place. The E24 error resets once you start a short cycle with the filter properly seated.

Common symptoms:

  • Stops after 2 minutes with E24
  • Dirty water remains in bottom sump

Probable causes:

Drain pump cover cap loose or unclipped 50%

If small white plastic cover under filters is not locked with a click, pump cavitation occurs.

Under-sink drain adapter or hose clogged 35%

Food debris caught in the barbed drain pipe adapter under kitchen sink.

Pump impeller jammed by glass or fish bone 15%

Hard debris or broken glass fragment jammed in pump vanes.

Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):

1. Remove microfilters and inspect pump cover cap

Unscrew cylindrical mesh filter counter-clockwise and lift metal plate. Locate small plastic pump cover clip.

2. Clear impeller and snap cover with a solid "CLICK"

Pry off plastic cap, clear debris from impeller. Reinsert cap and press firmly until an audible CLICK is heard.

3. Check sink drain spigot connection

Unclamp drain hose at sink drain branch and verify no grease buildup or factory seal blockage exists.

When to call a professional technician?

If cover snaps tight and drain hose is clear yet E24 continues, the drain pump motor coil or control board relay requires technician repair.
