Beko Dryer Error Er04: Door Sensor Overheating

The Er04 code appears when the NTC sensor near the door detects the temperature has exceeded roughly 60°C, causing the dryer to stop the compressor for a few minutes as a safety measure.

20 estimated minutes Basic Difficulty (DIY)

Common symptoms:

  • "Er04" appears on the display during the cycle
  • The cycle pauses and resumes on its own
  • Noticeably hotter air than usual comes from the door

Probable causes:

Clogged lint filter or air duct 55%

Restricted hot-air flow along its path causes the temperature to rise above the safe limit and trigger the warning.

Overloaded drum 25%

An overly full drum prevents even hot-air circulation, causing localized hot spots.

Faulty door NTC sensor 20%

The sensor itself gives faulty temperature readings even without genuine overheating.

Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):

1. Let it cool down and clean the filter

Leave the door open for about 15 minutes to let the dryer cool down. Then remove the lint filter and clean it thoroughly on both sides.

2. Reduce the load and check the duct

Split the laundry into smaller loads and, if your model vents outside, check the hose isn't kinked or packed with lint.

3. Restart the program

Close the door and select the program again. If Er04 doesn't return, the issue was related to restricted airflow.

When to call a professional technician?

If Er04 appears even with a clean filter, a clear duct, and normal loads, the door NTC sensor is likely giving a false reading and should be replaced by a technician.
