Teka Oven: Padlock Symbol Lit and Door Locked
On Teka ovens with a pyrolytic function, the padlock icon lights up to show the door is automatically locked while the interior temperature is still high.
Common symptoms:
- Padlock icon steady or flashing on the display
- The door won't open when pulling the handle
- The lock stays engaged long after the program has ended
Probable causes:
This is expected behavior: the oven won't release the door until the cavity drops to a safe temperature, which is especially slow after a pyrolysis cycle.
The rod or motor that moves the latch can get stuck in the closed position, even once the oven has cooled.
A blackout while the motor was moving can leave the mechanism in a mid-position that the board reads as a permanent lock.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Leave the oven off and undisturbed for at least 60-90 minutes, especially after a pyrolysis cycle; the padlock will turn off on its own once the cavity is cool enough.
If the padlock stays lit even though the oven is cool to the touch, disconnect it from the mains for 5 minutes and reconnect it to force a mechanism reset.
Some Teka models include a button combination for an emergency manual unlock; check your model's manual before attempting any manual opening.
If the oven is cool after a couple of hours and the padlock still won't release the door, or you hear the motor clicking without the door freeing up, a technician needs to inspect the motorized locking mechanism without manually forcing the door.
