Candy Oven Error ER02: Program Selector Fault
The ER02 code on a Candy oven means the program selector knob (mechanical or electronic) is sending an inconsistent signal to the board, preventing it from selecting or holding a cooking function.
Common symptoms:
- ER02 appears when turning the function knob
- The oven switches programs on its own without being touched
- The selector turns stiffly or feels loose
Probable causes:
The component that translates the knob's position into an electrical signal wears down after thousands of turns and starts giving erratic readings.
If the outer knob is cracked or not properly seated on the inner shaft, it spins loosely and doesn't transmit the actual position to the selector.
In fewer cases, the board itself fails to correctly interpret a valid signal from the selector.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
With the oven off, gently pull the knob outward and push it back fully onto the shaft, making sure it sits firm and doesn't spin loosely.
Cut the oven's power for one minute and reconnect it; then turn the selector slowly, testing each position one at a time.
Note the exact function where ER02 triggers; if it always happens at the same point in the rotation, it points more strongly to localized wear in the potentiometer.
If ER02 persists after checking the knob and resetting the oven, the program selector or its potentiometer needs replacing by a technician, since it's an internal component that requires removing the control panel.
