Siemens Washer Error E13: Water Leak Detected (Aquastop)
Appears when the Aquastop safety system detects water in the washer's base tray and immediately halts the program to prevent flooding.
Common symptoms:
- The program stops suddenly without finishing
- E13 code on display or flashing light sequence
- Visible puddle of water under the washer
Probable causes:
A small constant drip from an internal connection eventually triggers the base tray's safety float switch.
Using hand dishwashing soap instead of laundry detergent creates foam that overflows the door seal into the base.
The float switch trips without an actual leak, giving a false safety warning.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Unplug the washer and close the water inlet tap so the leak does not continue while you inspect the appliance.
Pull the washer slightly forward and check behind it whether the inlet hose, drain hose, or their connections show moisture or active dripping.
Dry the base and hoses thoroughly, reconnect water and power, and run a short empty cycle while watching for the leak to return.
If the leak returns during the test cycle, a pump seal, internal hose, or heating element is damaged and requires disassembly and repair by a technician.
