Miele Dryer Filter Alert: Lint Filter Saturated
The filter icon lights up on the Miele dryer when the lint filter has trapped enough fiber to noticeably reduce airflow and extend drying time.
Common symptoms:
- Filter icon stays solidly lit
- Clothes come out less dry than usual
- Drying cycles take longer than normal
Probable causes:
This is the most common cause and not a malfunction: the lint layer builds up after every cycle and needs manual cleaning.
On condenser or heat pump dryers, a secondary finer filter or the condenser unit itself also require periodic cleaning.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Open the door, remove the filter located at the bottom or top frame, and clear the lint layer by hand or by gently vacuuming the mesh.
If your model has a condenser, open it per the manual, rinse it under warm water clearing debris between the fins, and let it dry before reinstalling.
Make sure the filter clicks securely back into place, close the door, and run a short cycle to confirm the filter icon turns off.
If the filter icon stays lit with perfectly clean filters, or clothes still come out damp, the internal air duct is likely obstructed and should be checked by a technician.
