Haier Washer Error E1: Door Lock Fault
The E1 code on a Haier washer indicates the system cannot confirm the door is properly closed and locked before starting the wash cycle.
Common symptoms:
- E1 flashes when the start button is pressed
- The drum won't start and a repeated beep sounds
- The door appears closed but doesn't fully lock
Probable causes:
A sleeve or garment edge gets pinched between the sealing gasket and the metal frame, preventing full locking.
The small electrical mechanism securing the door has weakened from continued use and doesn't latch firmly.
An accidental knock from closing the door forcefully can slightly misalign the fit between the door and the lock.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Open the door and run your hand around the whole gasket rim to ensure no garment gets caught between the door and drum when closing it again.
Close the door pushing firmly until you feel the latch click. Gently pull it toward you to confirm it stays securely shut without opening.
Select a short program and press Start. Watch whether the door-locked icon lights up solidly within the first few seconds.
If the door closes properly with no trapped clothing and E1 keeps appearing, the door lock solenoid needs replacement by a technician.
