LG Oven Error F1 / F2: Thermistor Fault
The F1 and F2 codes on an LG oven point to a problem with the thermistor that measures cavity temperature, either open circuit (F1) or short circuit (F2).
Common symptoms:
- F1 or F2 flashes on the display with a continuous beep
- The oven won't respond to any button except cancel
- The temperature shown on screen doesn't match the actual one
Probable causes:
The small sensor at the rear of the cavity degrades from repeated heat cycles until it sends the board an invalid reading.
The vibration from opening and closing the door can loosen the thermistor's connector over time.
Less often, the fault lies in the board's own reading circuit rather than the sensor.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Press the cancel or off button and try starting the original function again; some one-off alerts clear with this simple retry.
If the error reappears, switch off the oven's circuit breaker for 30 seconds and switch it back on to force a full electronics reset.
Note whether F1/F2 appears as soon as you switch on a cold oven, or only after several minutes of heating; this helps diagnose whether the thermistor is failing constantly or intermittently.
If the error persists after resets, the temperature thermistor needs replacing by a technician; it requires access to the rear or interior of the cavity, and the board should be checked if the replacement part doesn't resolve it.
