The padlock symbol flashes on the Fagor oven panel because the door's thermal lock mechanism fails to confirm closure during the pyrolytic cleaning cycle, halting the program for safety.
Common symptoms:
- The padlock icon flashes instead of staying solid
- The oven beeps and stops pyrolysis after a few minutes
- The door appears shut but doesn't latch fully
Probable causes:
Carbonized grease residue around the door frame prevents the metal hook from seating fully into its housing.
The small switch that electrically confirms closure has failed after years of repeated heating and cooling cycles.
The door's weight causes the hinges to loosen over time, leaving the door slightly sagging.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Wait for the oven to cool completely. Using a damp cloth with a little vinegar, thoroughly clean the metal frame and locking hook of any burnt grease buildup.
Open and close the door slowly, checking whether it sits perfectly flush with the frame on both sides, without one side sitting higher than the other.
Unplug the oven for 5 minutes to reset the electronics. Plug it back in and start a short pyrolysis cycle to check whether the padlock icon lights solid.
