Bosch Induction Hob Error E2: Overheat Protection
The Bosch induction hob cuts power to the cooking zone and displays E2 when its internal electronics reach too high a temperature and trigger automatic protection.
Common symptoms:
- The cooking zone shuts off on its own mid-use
- E2 shows on that zone's display
- It works again after being left to cool for a few minutes
Probable causes:
The cooling fan beneath the hob can't dissipate heat if the cabinet below is enclosed or poorly ventilated.
Cooking for a long time with several large pots at maximum power generates more heat than the heat sink can dissipate.
The internal fan has stopped spinning properly due to wear or dust buildup on the blades.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Turn the induction hob off completely and wait at least 10-15 minutes before using it again, so the heat sink and fan can cool down.
Open the drawer or lower cabinet door and make sure nothing is blocking the hob's ventilation grille; avoid storing large trays right underneath.
If you often run several zones at full power simultaneously, try staggering their use or slightly lowering the power level to avoid overloading the cooling system.
If E2 appears even with light use and good ventilation, or you notice an unusual noise or a total absence of fan noise, the hob needs professional inspection of the electronics module or fan.
