Siemens Freezer Alarm P1: Power Failure Warning
The Siemens freezer displays P1 with the alarm light on, warning that an extended power outage occurred and the internal temperature rose above the safe limit.
Common symptoms:
- "P1" appears steady or flashing on the display
- The alarm indicator light stays on
- Intermittent beep when the door is opened
Probable causes:
The freezer was without power long enough for the internal temperature to exceed the safe threshold, automatically logging the alert.
The unit was briefly unplugged while being moved, triggering the same alert as a mains outage.
The home's electrical panel cut power to that outlet unnoticed, until the freezer logged the alarm.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Check whether the food still has ice crystals and firmness. If it partially thawed and refroze, consider discarding it for food safety.
Verify the plug is fully seated and that your home's circuit breaker hasn't tripped. Test the outlet with another small appliance.
Press the alarm button to silence the beep and activate Super Freeze for a few hours so the freezer quickly returns to its normal temperature.
If P1 appears without any real power cut having occurred (e.g. the unit was always plugged in), the control board may be logging false alarms and should be checked by a technician.
