Miele Dishwasher Error F62: Drainage Fault
The Miele dishwasher cannot pump out dirty water at the end of a program phase, displaying F62 after several failed drain attempts.
Common symptoms:
- The program stops with cloudy water pooled at the bottom
- F62 on the display next to the service symbol
- Food debris floating when the door is opened
Probable causes:
Food scraps, small bones, or packaging labels have saturated the coarse and fine filter assembly beneath the spray arms.
The pipe under the sink has built-up grease, or the installation has too tight a bend restricting flow.
A piece of broken glass or crockery is lodged in the pump impeller, preventing it from spinning.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Unplug the appliance and remove the lower basket to expose the filter assembly at the center of the tub floor.
Turn the fine filter counter-clockwise and lift out the whole assembly. Rinse it under the tap with a brush and check the coarse mesh for stuck-on debris.
Using your phone flashlight, look into the filter cavity and check that the impeller at the bottom spins freely when nudged with a finger. Reassemble everything and run a short test program.
If the filters are clean, the hose is clear, and the pump still won't turn or F62 comes back, the Miele drain pump motor needs to be checked by a specialized technician.
