Candy Dishwasher Error E3: Overflow Protection Triggered
Indicates the safety float detected excess water in the base tray and stopped the cycle to prevent flooding.
Common symptoms:
- The cycle stops suddenly without finishing
- E3 code on display
- Water visible under the dishwasher
Probable causes:
A small drip from a hose, gasket, or circulation pump accumulates in the base tray until it triggers the float.
Using hand-wash dishwashing soap instead of dedicated tablets or powder creates foam that overflows into the base.
Debris or limescale prevents the float from dropping to its normal position, giving a false overflow warning.
Safe Inspection Checklist (Check off when completed):
Unplug the dishwasher and close the shutoff valve under the sink before working on the appliance.
Pull the dishwasher out of its housing, place towels behind it, and tilt it back about 45 degrees for a couple of minutes to drain the accumulated water.
Inspect accessible hoses and connections, put the unit back in place, reconnect water and power, and run a short cycle while watching for renewed dripping.
If dripping returns during the test cycle, there is a genuine leak from a gasket, hose, or internal pump that requires technician repair.
